Before learning about the types of Booking.com pricing models, it is worth explaining what pricing models are and what rate plans are in Booking.com. Booking.com rate plans are your property's offers that differ from one another in their rules and usually offer accommodation in the same room and period at different prices. Examples of rate plans may include a non-refundable offer, a refundable offer, an offer with breakfast, or for example an offer without meals. We divide them into independent and dependent ones (based on the prices of independent plans). Every Booking.com rate plan is based on a Booking.com pricing model. Pricing models are pricing strategies or, in other words, ways of managing prices in rate plans. For example, you can decide that you will offer accommodation at the same price regardless of the number of people in the room, or on the contrary, you can decide that the price will depend on the number of people in the room.
When connecting Booking.com with BedBooking, the pricing model is detected automatically and the BedBooking Price list displays the prices of a given Booking.com rate plan according to its model. This means that when connecting Booking.com with BedBooking, you do not need to worry about which pricing model you are using. BedBooking supports 3 of the most popular and most commonly used pricing models:
Standard pricing model
In the Standard model, you set nightly rates that are independent of the number of people in the room. Regardless of whether one person or four are booking, the price remains the same.
Occupancy-Based Pricing (OBP) pricing model
The OBP model allows you to set separate rates for each occupancy and for each night. You have complete freedom in setting nightly prices.
Derived Pricing model
The Derived Pricing model is based on the Occupancy-based pricing rules. All you need to do is choose which number of guests is the so-called Standard occupancy, and then choose the percentage or amount difference for the remaining numbers of guests. When setting nightly rates for the Standard occupancy, the rates for the other occupancies are calculated according to the Occupancy-based pricing rules.
It is worth remembering that the Commission and availability function was created to automate the management of each of these pricing models. After enabling this function, you only need to manage BedBooking prices, and Booking.com prices, regardless of the pricing model, will be automatically recalculated for independent rate plans. Dependent plans are excluded from the operation of Commission and availability.
