Increase prices by a fixed amount

There are only a few situations that require Airbnb or Booking.com prices to be recalculated based on a fixed amount, rather than only on a set commission percentage.

How can a commission based on a fixed amount be used?

An example of when a commission based on a fixed amount is needed is having several Booking.com rate plans.

Example:

Let’s assume that we have one independent rate plan without meals and a second independent rate plan with breakfast. We would like the first plan without meals to have prices 15% higher than BedBooking prices, and the second plan with breakfast to have prices 15% higher than BedBooking prices plus an additional 50 euros.

Increasing prices by a fixed amount can also be an excellent solution if you want round prices.

Example:

If the BedBooking price is 150 euros and you apply a percentage commission of 15%, the price sent to Airbnb or Booking.com will be 173 euros. If you want the prices to always be round, then instead of using a percentage commission, you can use a fixed-amount commission. In the example given, if you set the commission based on a fixed amount to 30 euros, the price sent to Airbnb or Booking.com will be 180 euros.

It is worth noting that recalculating prices based on a fixed amount does not take the base price into account.

Example:

If the BedBooking price in one period is 100 euros and in another period 200 euros, then in both of these dates a fixed commission amount, for example 30 euros, will be added, which will result in an amount of 130 and 230 euros being sent to Airbnb or Booking.com.

Commissions charged by platforms such as Airbnb or Booking.com are usually based on a percentage of the reservation amount, not a fixed amount, which is why in most cases it is recommended to use a percentage commission.

For Booking.com independent rate plans in the OBP model, you can choose whether the fixed-amount commission will be charged “per night” or “per person per night.” In the case of the “per night” option, the fixed amount will be added to each night of the stay. If you choose “per person per night,” the amount will be added for each person for each night.

Example:

If you set a fixed-amount commission of 30 euros “per night” and the reservation covers 2 nights, then 60 euros will be added to the total amount (30 euros x 2 nights), regardless of the number of people.

On the other hand, if you choose the “per person per night” option and the reservation covers 3 people for 2 nights, then 180 euros will be added to the total amount (3 people x 30 euros x 2 nights).

How do you set a commission based on a fixed amount?

Increasing prices by a fixed amount is available only in individual Commission and availability. It allows you to increase BedBooking prices by both a percentage and a fixed amount. You can use both types of commission at the same time or choose just one. To use only a fixed-amount commission, simply fill in the Additional amount per night field and leave the percentage commission field Price increased by empty or enter “0”. You can learn more about using individual Commission and availability in the article Individual Commission and availability

📌IMPORTANT

For Booking.com, Commission and availability applies only to independent rate plans. Dependent plans are not affected by the commission mechanism because their price is calculated automatically based on the parent independent plan. You can learn more in the article Booking.com dependent plans - editing and management.
