Reservation System - How will it change?

BedBooking is changing for you.

Over the past few years, BedBooking has evolved significantly. Some of the features have been updated and some have been changed entirely to provide modern tools to help you grow your lodging business.

You may already be using the new Reservation System, but we'd like to show you what its previous version looked like.

 

Old Reservation System

Here's what the configuration of the previous version of the widget looked like:

There were three views available in the old booking widget:

After clicking on the Book button or free date button, the hotel guest was presented with a booking form consisting of three steps.

In addition, the booking widget was still available as a Wordpress plugin, but had not been developed for more than 6 years. Its lack of compatibility with the new version of WordPress resulted in its removal from the store on October 24, 2020.

The main drawback of the old booking system was:

  • lack of customization of the appearance of the booking widget for mobile devices (no RWD, it displayed well only on desktop),
  • scattering of configuration settings associated with the widget in different menu items (difficult to configure),
  • lack of support for reservations with payment on the spot at the accommodation facility,
  • lack of ability to book more than one room in a single purchase process.

 

New Reservation System

The most important changes in the new system are in the presentation layer and the mechanics of the system. The new version of the widget is:

  • adapted for proper display on mobile devices (RWD),
  • a separate platform that works independently, without the need to have your own website,

The configuration window for the new reservation system can be accessed from the Menu: Reservation System → Configuration.

Can a host sell accommodation without having its own website for the facility?

No.                             

You are required to have your own website where you can embed the reservation system.

Yes.                                             

Selling accommodation offer is possible by providing a link to the booking system in the *.bed-booking domain (e.g. in social media). Having your own website is optional

Is the booking system adapted to mobile devices?

No.
The widget looks like it is cut off, making it difficult for the guest to make a reservation.

Yes.
Guests have no problem making reservations because all items scale to screen size.

Is it possible to book multiple rooms with one order (e.g., group booking)?

No.
The guest has to book each room separately, which is not very intuitive. The guest needs to know exactly what rooms he needs and in what number.
The host often lost a potential customer.

Yes.

The system will automatically present all the possibilities that meet the requirements for a group booking.       
The guest selects from the list of rooms preferred for him/her, and the system itself summarizes the number of rooms and people. The guest has the option to freely distribute guests in individual rooms.                       
This way the host does not lose customers.

 

When a guest does not find a free date, does the Reservation System present alternative offers?

No.
The guest has no chance to quickly find the availability of free dates close to the preferred date.
Thus, the host loses a potential customer.

Yes.
An optional booking calendar will be displayed with available dates at the accommodation facility.
The guest is constantly in the sales funnel.

As a host, I have apartments in different locations of the city.

Will the guest see the exact address of the accommodation facility?

No.
The general address from the BedBooking account's accommodation profile is presented.

Yes.
The address assigned to each room is presented.
Thanks to the geolocation service, the guest will get driving directions to the specific address of your apartment.

Can I sell additional services such as airport transfers, welcome packages or bike rental through the booking system?

No.

Yes.
You can indicate exactly which additional services you want to offer your guests when making a reservation.
Thanks to the extensive configuration options, you can sell services per stay, per unit, per day, per person per day or per unit per day.

Does the guest see the amenities in each room?

No.
The visitor can only reinforce with photos.

Yes.
The guest can see all the amenities assigned to a particular offer. Additionally, the guest can filter by them (e.g., non-smoking rooms).

What payment methods are available in the reservation system?

Like a host, I want to know who my guest will be and the purpose of their visit.
(E.g., the accommodation facility is dedicated to families with children rather than partygoers.)

Does the system support quote requests instead of online sales?

No.
Only the availability of the room calendar or all rooms is displayed.
The guest must independently contact the host.

Yes.
The guest is all the time in the sales process / funnel.
The host will receive an email request for accommodation with all the required data to close the sale.

Does the booking system present the accommodation offer in the language of the viewer's availability?

No.

Yes.
The Reservation System automatically recognizes the guest's browser settings and presents the accommodation offer in the guest's language. The guest always has the option to manually change the language.

Is the new booking system compatible with the latest version of WordPress?

No.

Yes.
