BedBooking is changing for you.
Over the past few years, BedBooking has evolved significantly. Some of the features have been updated and some have been changed entirely to provide modern tools to help you grow your lodging business.
You may already be using the new price list, but we'd like to show you what the previous version looked like.
Old BedBooking price list
The old price list was created back in the days of Web App 1.0. For Web App 2.0, it underwent a color facelift to match it visually.
The old price list was accessible from Menu: Price List → Edit.
Pricing was managed at the level of:
Term - price list settings affected all rooms. Changing the price setting in the term applied the same price settings at the level of each room, unless the room had been previously edited manually. In that case, only rooms that matched the price setting pattern from the term were modified.
At the term level, the most important settings were set, such as:
- Term configuration options:
- pricing dates (date from - to)
- Price model: standard (per whole room) or occupancy-based price (OBP).
- age of children and discounts
- price for extra beds
- price for board (food)
- the amount of local / city tax / tourist tax fee
- notes for the guest, which are presented with the reservation system 1.0 - Prices for days of the week
- rate per night
- restrictions - Price with short stay
- rate per night
- restrictions - Price with long stay
- rate per night
- restrictions
Room - here you can overwrite the prices and restrictions that were configured in the term setting. Configuration includes:
- Prices for days of the week
- rate per night
- restrictions - Price with short stay
- rate per night
- restrictions - Price with long stay
- rate per night
- restrictions
The old price list did not operate on calendar dates based on years. The old price list operated on what was called a "circular" basis. You didn't have to update prices for each year separately, because the dates were set to days and months, not years. The year 2022 ended and the same prices occurred in 2023.
For users who want to optimize their profits, the old price list was very cumbersome to set up because of the term management.
Firstly: the number of terms was limited - originally to 12 (one term for 1 month), later we increased the range to 24 terms.
Secondly: transient holidays (e.g., Easter) or hot weekends (e.g., May Day) took place in other months or days of the week (e.g., May Day 3 days, 5 days or 7 days?).
Thirdly: it took a great deal of work to reconfigure the price list to carve out, for example, from a single date of April 1 - May 31, a May date at different prices.
Fourthly: trying to sell out an unoccupied date in one room caused quite a challenge in configuring dates.
The number of available settings and fields to fill out could have scared off many aspiring users.
In addition, the ability to change the pricing model for different dates (Standard or OBP), caused numerous problems with Booking.com's failure to update pricing and availability.
New BedBooking price list
The new accommodation service price list 2.0 had the following main goals:
- to simplify the process of configuring and setting prices for the user personalization of the price list settings
- flexibility in price management (e.g. selling out on a specific day, gaps in reservations)
- fit for display on mobile devices (RWD)
- retaining the look / matching the standard of solutions known in the industry
The functionality of the new price list is based on three main screens:
Price list configuration screen
- currency
- pricing model: standard or occupancy-based
- separate price for weekend days
- long stay
- short stay
- price ranges for children according to age
- price for board (food)
- the amount of local / city tax / tourist fee restrictions
By enabling / disabling the corresponding options in the price list, on the right side, you can see a preview of the available appearance of his personalized price list when setting rates.
Rate setting screen - price grid
- Terms (dates) are automatically added to the calendar. It is possible to set rates 24 months ahead. Each day can be managed independently as in Booking.com Extranet.
- The basic price is displayed in a field at the intersection of room and date. If you hover over or click on the price grid cell, you can see the detailed rates set for that day.
- Days with restrictions are marked with a green marker in the upper left corner of the field.
- Days in which the room contains incomplete price information are marked with an exclamation mark on a red background in the lower right corner of the field.
- Days in which no price is set at all, the fields are blank.
Price setting screen
- Its appearance is dictated by the configuration settings of the price list. The system will make sure that all required fields are completed.
- The user has the ability to quickly change the price for a single date as well as from - to dates.
- The user has the ability to apply the same prices to other rooms for the same room capacity.
- The user has the ability to quickly recalculate prices for a given period by applying an amount or percentage discount or increase.
- The user has the ability to set restrictions for a given date and days of the week.
