BedBooking is changing for you.
Over the past few years, BedBooking has evolved significantly. Some of the features have been updated and some have been changed entirely to provide modern tools to help you grow your lodging business.
You may already be taking advantage of the new features of connecting through iCalendar, but we'd like to show you what connecting looked like before.
Old iCalendar connection
Google calendar was the intermediary element between the BedBooking system and the sales portals.
In order to import a reservation into the sales portal from the BedBooking system, it was necessary to:
- Have a Google Calendar account.
- Create a room structure in Google Calendar that corresponds 1:1 to rooms in BedBooking (as many rooms, as many calendars in Google Calendar).
- In the iCalendar integration wizard, you were required to
- In step 1, log in to his Google account
- In step 2 - Import tab - indicate iCal links from sales portals to import reservations
- in step 3 - Export tab - indicate to which calendar in Google Calendar the bookings are to be exported - Obtain links from Google Calendar, for each room in the sales portal.
- In the sales portal, the obtained link from Google Calendar had to be indicated as an import of reservations/occupancy.
How the synchronization works for iCalendar enabled:
- any change to a reservation on the BedBooking calendar (add, delete, edit) triggered an export of the reservation to Google Calendar via the Google Calendar API.
- The sales portal periodically imported bookings from Google Calendar to lock appointments for sale.
- BedBooking - once every 15 minutes - downloaded bookings from sales portals via iCal link and updated the booking calendar.
New iCalendar connection
The new functionality completely excludes Google Calendar from the data synchronization process.
Here's what's changing:
- Step 1 - Google Login Tab - This is completely removed along with the Google login button. The first screen the user will see will be the Import tab.
- Step 3 - Export
- The Google calendar checkbox will be removed
- Export iCal reservations in BedBooking
- Each BedBooking room has its own generated iCal link with reservations
- There will be clarified descriptions / instructions for users in the section on the right.
- In the sales portal, points to the link from BedBooking as the import file.
